Early Days

Little boys
unsupervised
genetically designed
like toys
beguiled by fantasies
spontaneously play
improvised games
like actors
with imagined scripts
depicting violent scenes
as common themes
reflecting personalities
blooming slowly
in the park
at the bottom of the  street.

Ken W Simpson began writing poetry around 2005, with collections published by SBPRA and Hemkunt (Sanbun) from 2010 to 2013, then Augur Press (Patterns of Perception) in 2015. Another from Poetry Space is to be published in 2015.

He was born at South Camberwell in the state of Victoria, Australia in 1932, was educated at Scotch College, then Swinburne art school. After graduation he taught art for fifteen years in state technical schools in Victoria, interrupted 1958 by a year away painting in London in 1958. Superannuated due to stress, he began writing short stories, but later switched to free verse.

He lives in the Melbourne suburb of Lysterfield with his daughter, her husband and four grandchildren.
