A real man would have hitchhiked. And yet, billions in royalties, he’s sprawled out in first-class. A mocha chai latte, he demands, wide black-framed glasses cocked to GQ, Fresh Air cranked on his iPad. Three attendants scramble to conjure his drink. They return, bubbling beverage outstretched, and say, We stop somewhere waiting for you. With a quick backhand, Henry scalds them all – a baptism of molten sugar. Later, in the cabin, one will weep and call him brother. Ben Heins is the author of two poetry chapbooks: Cut Me Free (Crisis Chronicles Press) and Greatest Hits & B-Sides (Vagabondage Press, 2012).
