It isn’t really real is it? until someone else sees it? it isn’t, is it? so I am safe a snail curled tight in its shell a camouflaged katydid green wings spreading like spring leaves a solitary possum on a rain-drubbed road, playing dead to stay alive guarded secrets silently devouring like a sea cucumber not real until you see me please see me Claire Scott is an award winning poet who has received multiple Pushcart Prize nominations.
