A Prayer for Linda Evangelista
She was our Bardot, our Venus de Milo – a face to be painted by Leonardo.
A face fit for stamps, in profile on coins. Cast in gold medals, engraved on medallions.
Ideal eyes and lips, cheekbones and brow. A face to launch ships or grace a ship’s bow.
When that face faded it was no wonder she’d want to repair it, try to look younger.
She was an icon of beauty and grace until time and the cold made their mark on that face.
