Pond 10 - 2015 One Year Anniversary Issue
Welcome to SPANK the CARP’s One Year Anniversary issue! Thanks go to all those whose work has appeared here. You’ve made it possible for me to present an extraordinary and eclectic mix of stories and poems that I believe rivals any Lit site out there. And I feel it has succeeded in being a go to place for Shape Poetry too. Looking forward...
- I’m going to try to lose less money this next year by adding a Classified Section. Advertisers will only be individuals who offer products and services. No corporate ads allowed. Sorry but that’s the way I swing. Also, if you enjoy StC consider sending in support using the link to the right. - Past Ponds will change to point to the past home pages AND will include images submitted by actual photographers and digital artists. See the pitch below for Artists and Shutterbugs. AND FINALLY... I’m pleased to announce a new and unique “literary” endeavor: The University of Knumbscull. I’ve received nothing but positive feedback from “beta-users” so I’m very excited. Take a look and think about contributing humorous flash content if you have a funny bone. And if not, just enjoy it. It’s gonna be a real hoot. - Ken, Editor |

P O E M I can’t prove it, but I think certain traits are universal in young boys everywhere. Ken Simpson captures their essence in Early Days.

P O E M S Martin H. Levinson’s two poems are perfect examples of what I call “concept” poems. They illustrate an idea instead of an emotion. If his first poem doesn’t make sense read this.

P O E M Tribute poem Build A Swingset In Your Heart by Dana Jerman exudes what seems to be missing in so much modern poetry, namely Joy!

AUTHOR PROFILE - Wade Martin I'll bet if I asked Wade Martin what time it was, he'd respond with a poem. In our brief exchanges he struck me as one of those all-creativity all-the-time types. And he's a strong supporter of Women's Issues. Modern Man at his best. His profile bears me out.

S H O R T S T O R Y According to the last issue, I don’t like to feature R-rated content. Evidently I’m wrong, because here’s another. Sex, Drugs, and Braille by Paul Hostovsky is so creative, funny, touching, and even informative, that I threw censorship under the bus.

P O E M S The opposite of concept poetry, IMO, is free verse poetry. And Mary Carroll-Hackett’s two poems are just breath-taking. My first read of them felt like some strange and beautiful creative wind just came out of nowhere and blew through my psyche.

F L A S H How’s this for eclectic: biographical humorous flash that hints at iconoclasm. That’s all packed into Boone Eats Supper by Nancy Shires.
